Jonathan Schwartz is a film editor in Los Angeles, CA. He began his career as an apprentice editor under Paul Hirsch, who taught that being an editor is like being a cop: our job is to serve and to protect.
Jonathan’s first job as an editor was on Modern Family, for which he earned two Emmy nominations and won an Eddie, awarded by American Cinema Editors, for Best-Edited Half-Hour Series. He has since edited series, pilots, and feature films for 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, HBO, and others.
Raised in Washington, DC, Jonathan attended Columbia University, earning a BA in Film Studies while minoring in creative writing. When Brooklyn became the new Manhattan (roughly 2004), Jonathan moved to Los Angeles. He now lives in the Echo Park neighborhood with his beautiful wife, an art historian and private curator, and their daughter.
Outside of editing movies, Jonathan enjoys rock climbing, reading biographies, keeping up with friends on LinkedIn, and long walks on the beach.
